Changzhou Institute of Mechatronic Technology, a state-run fulltime college founded in 1963, was one of two vocational colleges that directly under provincial machinery industry office. It was independently upgraded in 2002 and now locates in Changzhou Science & Education Town which significantly features higher vocational education, adjoins the Wujin High-Tech Industrial Development Zone, covers an area of 942 mus and building area of 260,000 square meters. Existing number of students is 11,133 and 624 staffs including 410 fulltime teachers. Total value of fixed assets is RMB 507.74 million, of which teaching apparatus worth a total of RMB 84.03 million. The college dominates fulltime higher vocational education, develops both adult diploma education and vocational training, and sets up the disciplines according to equipment manufacturing industry. There are 11 major professional groups of 38 professional, such as electromechanical equipment technology, material molding and control technology, automobile technical service, electrical control technology, computer technology and manufacturing field service, etc. It’s formed a profession pattern of featuring equipment manufacturing industry and orienting Mechatronic professional. The college has trained more than 30,000 professionals in equipment manufacturing industry in past forty more years, which strongly supported the development of the industry in Jiangsu and Yangtze River Delta.

College has a national model vehicle maintenance technical and vocational education training base, a provincial electrical and electronic experimental teaching demonstration center, a provincial mold technology training base, a provincial mechanical manufacturing technology training base, a provincial Mechatronic major integrated training base, etc, more than 95 experimental training centers(rooms) in total. Relating with the Mechatronic industrial associations, college has been the secretary-general unit of Jiangsu Die & Mould Industrial Association, vice chairman unit of Jiangsu Automotive Maintenance & Repair Association, and executive director and governing unit of Jiangsu Electrical Equipment Industrial Association and other 15 associations. College fully integrates industry resources and has built 472 college-enterprise cooperation bases by cooperating with known enterprises at home and abroad and building college-enterprise cooperation platforms. College pays attention to international cooperation and communication, and cooperates on running schools with Southbank Institute of TAFE, etc.

College has always adhered to the scientific orientation and operating methods of higher vocational education by taking service as a goal and employment as a direction, and develops by combining manufacturing with learning and researching.
