Review of Corning Cookware and Mixing and Storage Bowls

When using mixing and storage containers, you will find there are many different types to choose from.  You can purchase mixing bowls that come in Glass, Porcelain, Stainless Steel, Melamine, ect.  This is just a few of thte types; there are many more.  They come in all sizes, colors and different types of sets.  These mixing and storage containers are great for everyday uses in the kitchen, for mixing up delicious meals for use at the present time, mixing up a head of time or for storing leftovers in.  Always check to see if they can be put in the dishwasher.  When it comes to the microwave you should also always check the instructions, some things are not microwave safe.

Another type of mixing and storage container is the plastic; like Rubbermaid, Glad, Ziploc and other off brand's.  These are really great for leftovers in the refrigerator or to store in the freezer.  I like using this kind of storage container to take food in; if you're helping someone out for whatever the reason this type of container is nice because it usually costs less, so if it's left or just forgotten there isn't a worry about getting it back or losing your best container. 

When using plastic containers something also to keep in mind.  They are not as safe; scientist are finding that they may be hazardous to our health.  There are harmful chemicals that are in our food, drink and in our air and they are in some of the common plastics.  For the most part you may not be able to see it or tast it, however; if you serve food on plastic you may be eating a little plastic.  There are studies that show chemicals leach from plastics and resins when exposed to high temperatures (such as microwaves or dishwashers) and hard use.  It is always best to check the instructions whenever you buy plastic containers.
